Officially Approved by ACECQA — Legal Compliance for Victorian Childcare Services

HLTAID012 is approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and fully satisfies the first aid, anaphylaxis management, and emergency asthma management requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations. Under Victorian law, every childcare centre, kindergarten, family day care service, and outside school hours care (OSHC) program must maintain an ACECQA-approved first aider on-site at all times.

Completing HLTAID012 at AEEC in Melbourne or Werribee ensures your service remains compliant with the National Quality Framework (NQF) — Quality Area 2: Children's Health and Safety and avoids regulatory risk during ACECQA assessment and rating visits. AEEC is an authorised RTO (No. 45853) — your Statement of Attainment is accepted by all Victorian and Australian childcare regulators.

🎓HLTAID012 vs HLTAID011 — What's the Difference?

HLTAID012 builds directly on the standard HLTAID011 Provide First Aid qualification with additional childhood-specific emergency training not covered by the general course. If you work in any childcare, kindergarten, family day care, OSHC, or early education setting in Melbourne or Werribee, HLTAID012 is the qualification required by ACECQA — not HLTAID011.

📊 Side-by-Side Comparison

HLTAID011 — Standard First Aid

  • DRSABCD action plan & CPR
  • AED / defibrillator use
  • Anaphylaxis & asthma management
  • Bleeding, fractures & burns
  • Snake bites, seizures & shock
  • Heat stroke & hypothermia
  • Accepted across all industries
  • Not ACECQA-approved for ECEC

HLTAID012 — Education & Care ✔ ACECQA

  • Everything in HLTAID011, plus:
  • Childhood-specific emergency response
  • Febrile convulsions (febrile seizures)
  • Fever, dehydration & croup management
  • Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) awareness
  • Safe sleep practices for infants
  • ACECQA-approved for ECEC legal compliance
  • Meets NQF Quality Area 2 requirements

Important: ACECQA does not accept HLTAID011 as a substitute for HLTAID012 in early childhood education and care settings. If you work in childcare, kindergarten, family day care, or OSHC in Victoria, you must hold HLTAID012 — not the standard first aid qualification. AEEC delivers HLTAID012 at both our Melbourne CBD and Werribee campuses.

What You Will Learn — HLTAID012 Course Outcomes
